Like most engineered products of our age, this Panasonic SD-YD250 is full of cute features that add little value, or cause annoyance. The yeast dispenser makes a marginal difference at best. If you use it, you (for the most part) create extra work for yourself because you'll have to clean it later.
Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker with Yeast Dispenser Pros:
- Very quiet : In any cycle, it only knocks about 7-8 times continuously, while it kneads, and that's all. Other than that, you can hardly hear it.
- Yeast dispenser: This helps keep the dough at the optimum temperature for best yeast action, which results in requiring less yeast. I have tried another machine before which required 4 times the quantity this one does.
- Easy to clean : The non-stick pan and blade are super-easy to clean, just rinse them off in warm water, I rarely need to use any detergent.
- Whole wheat cycle : Most whole wheat bread recipes call for some amount of white bread flour or gluten flour to improve texture and height. This machine works wonders with whole wheat bread flour alone.
- Weighing instead of measuring : What some people see as a con, I think is a huge pro.
- a little expensive, but I found it worth every penny.
The dozens of different bake modes make the product more complicated to use. They make a marginal difference in baking results. I only use the quick bake mode, which takes 2 hours to complete.
The Panasonic is extremely quiet! With a normal household noise level, I don't even hear it until the end-of-cycle beep.
Overall, it's a very easy-to-use machine, and gives great and, most importantly, consistent results. I would highly recommend this Panasonic SD-YD250 Automatic Bread Maker with Yeast Dispenser to everyone who is fond of home-made bread.
